Yes this year 2019 us collectors had more responsibility to bank money and return collection bucket etc to our local ❤️Foundation office. To know my effort helped raise $151.50 makes it all worth it. Thanks to all who gave 👍
Freemason Lodge December 2020
Helped raise money for Air Rescue. Gift wrapping done at The Hub Hornby, Christchurch.
My husband is a member of Freemason Lodge Christchurch and invited me to volunteer to help gift wrap to help raise money for charity.
I loved it 💝
We had to go to Customer Service and sign in to have a name tag sticker printed out and wear while in mall. When we finished we had to return to Customer Service and sign out. This procedure had to be followed to protect the mall from any liability of Health and safety caused by any visitors while in mall.
I had another volunteer with me age 82 gentleman and hated technology. He started with instruction by me and I noticed his hands shaking so I asked if I could complete it for him, making sure I wasn't taking over and making him feel hopeless, he was very happy for me to finish signing him in using tablet. The lady at Customer Service noticed me helping him and said he had to do it himself, I acknowledged what she said and continued to finish his signing in well aware he knew what he was agreeing to. I understand why each person had to sign in for themself but needed to help him as we were required to be at the gift wrapping station and had to hurry, no time for patience reading every damn thing just to sign in. It was basically agreeing that while in mall the mall wasn't liable for any accidents that may happen with the Visitor signed in. Just covering themselves which is understandable on a business point of view.
It was my first time gift wrapping in public and it took some tries to tear off the wrapping paper without ripping it 😬
Met nice customers and wrapped some interesting things like triple mirror pack, and a heavy stone chopping board, lucky hubby was there cos it was very heavy to just get out of the shopping bag, he wrapped it too.
We had another volunteer from hubby's Lodge, he was great. Lovely to have him with us, great company too.
December 2021 Freemason Lodge
Yes hubby and I returned for another turn to help raise money for charity. We were in Hornby Mall, Christchurch for 2 hours and not as successful as last year but we did a different time 1600-1800. Some people didn't carry cash and others didn't want to pay a gold Coin donation for charity. The people who did give were nice, I loved seeing the kids faces no mask, lovely to see their smiles 😊 Estimate $40 donated on our 2 hour shift, not much but it's still something. During our shift wearing our masks was causing me to feel faint, I took sips of water to help me with dehydration. Wearing the mask was horrible not being able to show our smiles, yes cos of pandemic 😷
We were the last shift so at the end we had to pack up and return charity boxes to Customer service and sign out.
NZ Heart Foundation collection was forced into isolation due to Covid so ended online. My contribution to help raise money didn't do well My worst collection for charity ever 😔
